El objetivo de este trabajo de investigación se centra en el desarrollo de una metodología para el proceso de mecanizado de engranajes ¿one-of-a-kind¿ en máquinas multieje de propósito general, una vez ha sido estudiada y evaluada la problemática que presentan las tecnologías específicas de tallado. La metodología presentada a lo largo del todo el estudio permite tener un control sobre todo el proceso, desde la etapa de diseño a la de medición, una vez este ha sido mecanizado. La etapa de diseño se centra en el desarrollo de dos software que permiten la obtención de dos tipologías diferentes de engranajes a partir de los parámetros de diseño introducidos por el usuario.En la etapa de mecanizado han sido evaluados diferentes estrategias de mecanizado, patrones de corte, desgastes de herramientas y tiempos de mecanizado con la finalidad última de optimizar el proceso. Además, en la operación de acabado han sido evaluados diferentes niveles de calidad, llegando a ser evaluada una nueva tecnología de acabado como es la turbina de aire, que permite una fácil instalación en máquina. Han sido mecanizadas diferentes tipologías de engranaje y para diferentes cinemáticas de máquina, previa simulación del proceso de mecanizado en el entorno virtual.Por último, se ha desarrollado un modelo que permite estimar y predecir la topografía superficial que va a ser generada para cada uno de los diferentes flancos en función de parámetros tales como la inclinación y orientación de la fresa, los parámetros de corte y las velocidades de avance y de giro de la herramienta.
