Los niños de la guerra: entre la historia oral, el cine y la memoria

Abstract

The 1936 military uprising in Spain changed the life and fate of millions of people and marked the life of many more, who were forced to flee from the fear and uncertainty that came with the conflict. Children were among the most vulnerable of these groups. In 1937 the Basque Government decided to evacuate children to avoid suffering and safeguard them from the bombing raids and the poverty. The fate of these children, evacuated to Britain, France, Denmark, the USSR and elsewhere, acquired great importance. The stories of their lives are told in the documentary "Los niiios de Rusia" by Jaime Camino, which presents accounts by children who were sent to Russia as war evacuees and ended up living most of their lives there, following the victory of Franco's troops and the outbreak of World War II. It is their own story told through their own words and feelings.; La sublevación militar de 1936, en España, cambió la vida y el destino de millones de personas. Y, al mismo tiempo, marcó la de otras que se vieron empujadas a la huida ante el miedo y la incertidumbre generadas por el conflicto. De entre estos colectivos, uno fue especialmente vulnerable: la infancia. Para evitar su sufrimiento el Gobierno Vasco, en 1937, tomó la decisión de evacuarlos para salvaguardarles de los bombardeos y la miseria. La suerte de estos niños, enviados a Gran Bretaña, Francia, Dinamarca, la URSS, etc., adquirió un nuevo protagonismo. Estos relatos de vida son lo que retrata el documental "Los niños de Rusia" de Jaime Camino. Se recoge la experiencia y testimonio de aquellos que fueron enviados a Rusia y vivieron aquella evacuación infantil, que acabaron viviendo la mayor parte de sus vidas allí, tras el triunfo del franquismo y el inicio de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Es su historia contada con sus propias palabras y sentimientos.
