A la orilla del tiempo. La conmemoración del 14 de abril en el exilio mexicano (1940-1977)

Abstract

This article analyzes how the Spanish exile community in Mexico celebrated, for almost forty years, the founding myth of the Second Republic: the day of its advent on April 14, 1931. The objective is to show, through this place of memory, how the idea and image of republican Spain was transformed until became a highly mystified construction, into the imaginary of these exiled, who had been forced to leave the country between 1936-1939. In order to do this, the successive celebrations of this ephemeris are analyzed, both from the ritual and discursive point of view.; Este artículo analiza cómo la comunidad del exilio español en México conmemoró, durante casi cuarenta años, el mito fundacional de la Segunda República: el día de su advenimiento el 14 de abril de 1931. El objetivo es mostrar, a través de este lugar de la memoria, cómo se fue transformando en el imaginario de estos exiliados la idea y la imagen de la España republicana que ellos se habían visto obligados a abandonar entre 1936-1939, hasta convertirla en una construcción altamente mitificada. Para ello, se analizan las sucesivas celebraciones de esta efeméride, tanto desde el punto de vista ritual, como discursivo.
