The transition towards a more sustainable energy model reliant on renewable sources requires the development of efficient and competitive battery technologies. In this scenario, lithium-sulfur batteries emerge as a promising alternative, offering enhanced sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and notably, superior energy density compared to current commercially available lithium-ion batteries. This characteristic positions them as catalysts for unlocking the electrification of sectors where battery weight is a key element. However, the commercialization of this battery technology remains pending, primarily due to different technological and operational challenges. Therefore, given the multifaceted nature of these challenges, this work aims to address them through a holistic approach, involving the formulation of tailored improvement strategies for each component of the cell, with the ultimate objective of unifying them into a unified final device. Furthermore, to further promote the commercialization of this promising technology, the research focuses on the upscaling process of the proposed approach to cell formats close to practical applications.
