The plasma membrane is an attractive target for new anticancer drugs, not
least because regulating its lipid structure can control multiple signaling pathways
involved in cancer cell proliferation, differentiation and survival. Accordingly, the novel
anticancer drug hydroxytriolein (HTO) was designed to interact with and regulate the
composition and structure of the membrane, which in turn controls the interaction of
amphitropic signaling membrane proteins with the lipid bilayer. Changes in signaling
provoked by HTO impair the growth of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells,
aggressive breast tumor cells that have a worse prognosis than other types of breast
cancers and for which there is as yet no effective targeted therapy. HTO alters the
lipid composition and structure of cancer cell membranes, inhibiting the growth of
MDA-MB-231 and BT-549 TNBC cells in vitro. Depending on the cellular context, HTO
could regulate two pathways involved in TNBC cell proliferation. On the one hand, HTO
might stimulate ERK signaling and induce TNBC cell autophagy, while on the other,
it could increase dihydroceramide and ceramide production, which would inhibit Akt
independently of EGFR activation and provoke cell death. In vivo studies using a model
of human TNBC show that HTO and its fatty acid constituent (2-hydroxyoleic acid)
impair tumor growth, with no undesired side effects. For these reasons, HTO appears
to be a promising anticancer molecule that targets the lipid bilayer (membrane-lipid
therapy). By regulating membrane lipids, HTO controls important signaling pathways
involved in cancer cell growth, the basis of its pharmacological efficacy and safety.

This paper presents a study of the usefulness of the exergy approach in the development of energy systems for the built environment. The energy and exergy performance of five different energy systems for a social dwelling in a multifamily building from 1960s in Bilbao (Spain) are studied; two reference cases as well as three improved options. The total energy chain is considered from the energy demand to the energy resources and the analyses are performed using dynamic simulations. The exergy losses of energy system components are identified and quantified and efficiency values in terms of energy and exergy are evaluated. Based on an analysis of the exergy losses further improvements are investigated. This study has shown the exergy concept to be a useful addition to the energy concept, giving a more rational analysis than an analysis solely based on the energy concept. It has also shown that identification and quantification of exergy losses can support the further improvement of energy system configurations, leading to a further reduction of exergy losses and thus a further reduction of high quality energy use.

A field study of 10 social housing dwellings in the north of Spain is presented in this paper. Knowing the building stock is the first step to set up priorities in a global strategy to improve the energy efficiency of the existing building stock. Moreover, improving the energy efficiency of buildings is one of the most effective ways to tackle fuel poverty, which is increasing in Spain in the last years, being social housing one of the most vulnerable sectors of being at risk of fuel poverty.
The aim of this research is to describe a methodology for analysing the thermal performance of buildings under a holistic approach. An overview of the thermal performance of the social housing stock in a city with mild climate in Spain is presented. Social housing stock in Bilbao is classified by means of selecting 10 representative dwellings. A field study was performed during 10 months. Results of heating consumption as well as indoor conditions are presented. Results show that energy consumption in winter is not as high as expected, due to the low indoor temperatures. Amongst other factors, the influence of the occupants plays an important role in the final thermal performance of dwellings.

[EUS] Idazketak eta ahozkotasunak eragin zuzena dute ikasleen hainbat gaitasunetan, eta
alde horretatik hutsune nabarmenak identifika daitezke Lehen Hezkuntzako ikasleen artean.
Hori dela eta, Lehen Hezkuntzako azken ziklorako literatur tailer proposamen didaktikoa
azaltzen da, honen ebaluazioarekin eta ondorioztatutako gako garrantzitsuenekin batera. Era
berean, azken aldiko egileek gomendatzen dutenari jarraituz, proposamena egiteko literatur
tailerrekin lotura estua duten hainbat alor aztertu ditugu marko teorikoan: Euskal Haur eta
Gazte Literatura historian zehar eta gaur egun; literaturak hezkuntzan duen eragina EAEko
curriculum berriaren zirriborroa aztertuz; poesia, ahozko literatura eta jolasaren arteko

gaps can be identified among primary school students. Therefore, the didactic proposal of
literary workshops for the last cycle of primary education is explained, along with its evaluation
and the most important key findings. Likewise, following the recommendation of recent authors,
various areas closely related to literary workshops have been analyzed in thetheoretical
framework for the development of the proposal: Basque Children and Youth Literature
throughout history and in the present; the influence of literature in education through the
analysis of the draft of the new curriculum of the Basque Autonomous Community; the
relationship between poetry, oral literature and the game; and the presentation of the value of
literary workshops.
