La cuestión foral vasca y el gobierno de O'Donnell durante la Guerra de Africa (1859-1860)

Abstract

The existence of the former Basque privileges on military matters was a reason of mistrusts of the O'Donnell government during the Aftican War (1859-1860). It motivated, in turn, the alarm of the Basque institutions. In the article there are studied the questions produced between the government and these institutions, concerning the contribution of forces with destination to this war, the appointment of his chief and officials, and the future of the military basque peculiarities.; La existencia de los antiguos privilegios vascos en materia militar fue causa de recelos del gobierno O'Donnell durante la Guerra de Africa (1859-1860). Ello motivó, a su vez, la alarma de las instituciones forales. En el artículo se tratan cuestiones producidas entre el gobierno y las diputaciones, en torno a la aportación de fuerzas con destino a esta contienda, en nombramiento de sus jefes y oficiales, y el futuro de las peculiaridades militares vascas.
