Methodological keys for the acquisition and long-term use of photographic collections representing elements of Heritage

Abstract

[EN] Photographic pictures contain high-resolution information about the elements of Heritage and they can be obtained at a low cost. Besides, they can be used metrically with different degrees of accuracy: from the dimensional analysis through perspective of single images to photogrammetry both stereoscopic and convergent. Therefore, photographic collections might be an interesting option in case a detailed documentation is required and, almost the only possible, when we count on a meager budget. In these circumstances, we can resort to register photographically and store the collection in expectation of having the resources to extract the information from the images. A similar situation arises if the element has to be documented now but the information will not be needed immediately. Anyhow, the fact that it is suitable for low cost projects does not mean that it should be avoided in other situations; on the contrary, a good photographic collection is always an asset for every project.

[ES] Las imágenes fotográficas contienen información detallada de los elementos representados y pueden obtenerse con un coste reducido. Además, pueden utilizarse para extraer valores métricos por diferentes metodologías, desde el análisis dimensional perspectivo de imágenes aisladas hasta la fotogrametría estereoscópica o convergente.

Por lo tanto, las colecciones fotográficas son una opción interesante cuando se requiere una documentación y, casi la única posible si se cuenta con un escaso presupuesto. En estos casos se puede recurrir a realizar el registro fotográfico y almacenar la colección a la espera de disponer de los recursos para extraer la información. Una situación similar surge cuando el elemento patrimonial debe documentarse inmediatamente pero la información no va a ser utilizada hasta un tiempo después.

En cualquier caso, el hecho de que la fotografía sea adecuada para proyectos de bajo coste no significa que deba ser evitada en otras situaciones, al contrario, una buena colección fotográfica proporciona siempre un gran rendimiento para cualquier proyecto.
