Resumen
This article is a revision ofthe meaning ofthe two characters which embody, in Menander and Moliere respectively, the cype of the misanthrope. It is based on the analysis of the various ways in wich both poets use the traditional techniques in order to shape comical types, and in the comparison of the results achieved by both dramatists as well as its influence in the subsequent remakes ofthe misanthropist figure.
