El cine de ficción durante la Guerra Civil española, 1936-1939

Abstract

[ES] Esta investigación analiza las circunstancias y los contenidos ideológicos del cine de ficción realizado durante la Guerra Civil española. En el bando republicano las iniciativas fueron muy diversas y estuvieron impulsadas por el Gobierno de la República, partidos políticos, sindicatos e, incluso, unidades militares. En cambio, en el bando nacional la producción corrió exclusivamente a cargo de la iniciativa privada y la mayor parte de las películas se rodaron en la Italia fascista y en la Alemania nazi. Sin embargo, casi todas estas cintas —a pesar de su muy diversa factura— compartían una característica común: su carga ideológica era mucho menor de lo que hubiera cabido esperar en un tiempo tan sombrío.

[ENG] This research analyses the circumstances and the ideological contents of fiction films made during the Spanish Civil War. On the Republican side, the initiatives were very diverse and were promoted by the Government of the Republic, political parties, trade unions and even military units. On the other hand, on the national side production was exclusively a question of private initiative and most of the films were filmed in Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. However, almost all of these films —despite their very diverse origin— shared a common characteristic: their ideological charge was much less than they would have expected in such a bleak time.
