Tosferina: La importancia de la vacunación de las gestantes. Estrategias de prevención y control en la población de embarazadas de la OSI Bilbao-Basurto.

[ES] El aumento en la incidencia de la tos ferina a partir del 2011 y la gravedad de sus complicaciones en lactantes menores de dos meses, obligó a instaurar el programa de vacunación de las mujeres embarazadas contra la tos ferina entre la semana 28 y 36 de gestación. En el País Vasco se comenzó en febrero del 2015.
Los objetivos del estudio fueron realizar una revisión bibliográfica sobre el estado de la tos ferina y sus estrategias de prevención y valorar la implantación y el cumplimiento de la vacunación contra la tos ferina en gestantes de la OSI Bilbao-Basurto desde enero del 2015 hasta mayo del 2016.
Por un lado, se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en bases de datos. Por otro lado, se analizaron de forma retrospectiva las historias clínicas de gestantes procedentes del registro informático del Hospital Universitario Basurto de todas las embarazadas que dieron a luz en dicho hospital desde enero del 2015 hasta mayo del 2016.
Se registraron 3377 partos en dicho periodo, teniendo en cuenta que 88 fueron gemelares y 1 triple, las mujeres susceptibles a ser vacunadas fueron 3287. De estas, se vacunaron 1726, lo que representó una cobertura global del 42.9%. La media de cobertura vacunal en los tres primeros meses de implantación fue de 21.0%. En cambio, los tres últimos meses del estudio fue de 96.2%.
Los datos demuestran como la cobertura vacunal fue en aumento, lo que demuestra una importante coordinación y labor por parte de las matronas y ginecólogos.
