Comunicación corporativa: Memoria Anual versus Balance Social

Abstract

Aunque algunos académicos y profesionales de la comunicación consideran que la Memoria Anual y el Balance Social vienen a ser lo mismo, existen diferencias sustanciales que matizan ambos formatos. Por ello, deberían recibir un tratamiento científico, académico y profesional mínimamente diferenciado. Es cierto que tienen objetivos comunicativos similares transmitir credibilidad social y financiera a determinados públicos de la organización pero, al mismo tiempo, cumplen funciones complementarias, y en algunos casos, distintas. También es cierto que en los años 70 el Balance Social tenía en España una razón de ser, mucho más arraigada que ahora, mientras que la Memoria Anual, de influencia anglosajona, tardó en imponerse en las empresas e instituciones públicas a lo largo de los 80 y 90 las vicisitudes históricas también ayudan a comprender la actual situación. La realidad es que la Memoria Anual ha asumido hoy un papel hegemónico en la comunicación corporativa de rendición de cuentas, desaprovechando las grandes posibilidades que le ofrece el Balance Social en cuanto a rigor y análisis de los hechos privados y públicos de la organización.; Komunikazio alorreko akademiko eta profesional zenbaitek Urteko Memoria eta Balantze Soziala gauza bera dela uste badute ere, formato biak bereizten dituzten ezberdintasun nabarmenak daude. It is also certain that in the 70s the Social Balance had in Spain existence reasons, much more ingrained that now, while the Annual Report, with Anglo-Saxon influence, it was imposed in the companies and public institutions throughout the 80s and 90s the historical vicissitudes also help to understand the current situation. The reality is that the Annual Report has assumed today a dominant paper in the corporate communication, wasting the big possibilities the Social Balance offers as for rigor and analysis of the private and publics facts of the organization.
