A nivel
[eng] The judicial system stands today at a crossroads due to the contemporary global context. At the
international level, states are faced with the need to give a new structure to their Administration
of Justice, making it efficient in order to regain the trust of citizens.
In this regard, the multi-door courthouse appears to be the new paradigm of this century since
it meets current social and legal needs. We make a journey that begins by explaining the
historical origin of the concept, its evolution, characteristics and current significance. Then we
go on to explain the reception, in the European Union, of the movement involving this model
and the special interest devoted by the European institutions to the relationship between courts
and mediation. This juncture will help us to understand the Spanish legislative framework and
we will intuit whether the multi-door system is a possibility in the foreseeable future.
