Application of the Analysis Cluster in the economic environment. A study of the neighborhoods of Donostia

Abstract

[EN] We try to study the quality of life in Donostia, in the sense that we want to study the relationship that can exist among those inhabitants of the housings and the structure of the same ones. We will attempt to look for a link among inhabitant's type, housing type and homogeneous areas of Donostia, using various techniques in Multivariate analysis. We will use, for example, the Analysis of Principal Components, that is a technique of reduction of the dimensionality of a group of continuous variables, to be able to pick up in few factors or components, most of the information of those variables. Finally, we will apply the Fuzzy Clustering analysis to form the groups of homogeneous neighborhoods, where the main difference resides in that the Fuzzy method allows for different degrees of association from a neighborhood to diverse groups, while the method Cluster is less flexible, in the sense that a neighborhood belongs or not to a group.

[ES] Con este trabajo tratamos de estudiar la calidad de vida de Donostia, en el sentido de que queremos estudiar la relación que puede existir entre los habitantes de las viviendas y la estructura y utilización de las mismas. Intentaremos buscar un vínculo entre tipo de habitante, tipo de vivienda y áreas homogéneas de Donostia, utilizando diversas técnicas de Análisis Multivariante, como por ejemplo el Análisis de Componentes Principales, que es una técnica de reducción de la dimensionalidad de un conjunto de variables continuas, para poder recoger en pocos factores o componentes, la mayor parte de la información de esas variables. A posteriori, aplicaremos el Análisis Cluster y también el Análisis Fuzzy Clustering para formar los grupos de barrios homogéneos, donde la principal diferencia radica en que el método Fuzzy permite diversos grados de pertenencia de un barrio a diversos grupos, mientras que el método Cluster es menos flexible, en el sentido de que un barrio pertenece o no a un grupo.
