Indalecio Prieto - Bruno Alonso: Epistolario (1937-1938)

Abstract

La contribución busca profundizar en el papel del Comisariado en la Marina republicana. Hemos contado con una documentación inédita de enorme trascendencia: La correspondencia mantenida entre Indalecio Prieto y Bruno Alonso, ministro y Comisario General de la Flota y de la Base naval de Cartagena, entre 1937 y 1938. Al hilo de la misma salen a relucir -junto con la diferente personalidad de los interlocutores- los problemas que enfrentó el Arma durante la Guerra Civil: el encauzamiento de la situación revolucionaria sustentada por los Comités; la creación del Comisariado, la imposición de la despolitización; los costes de la ayuda soviética y el restablecimiento del poder de los mandos, con consecuencias sobre la actuación de la Flota y, en última instancia, determinando la derrota de la República; This contribution aims to delve deeper into the commissariat's role in the Spanish Republican Navy. For this purpose, we have relied on unpublished documentation of great importance: the correspondence between Indalecio Prieto and Bruno Alonso, Minister and General Commissar of the Fleet stationed at Cartagena in the naval base, between 1937 and 1938. The latter brings to light - coupled with the different personality of the interlocutors- the problems faced by the navy during the Spanish Civil War: the channelling of the revolutionary situation supported by the Committees; the creation of the Commissariat, the imposition of depoliticization; the costs of Soviet aid and the restoration of officer leadership, with consequences on the performance of the Fleet and, ultimately, determining the defeat of the Republic.
