Revisitando el pasado en las necrológicas: El fallecimiento de los expresidentes franco-españoles en la prensa, 2008-2020

Abstract

The death of the former presidents of the national government serves to rethink the most recent past of each country and, at the same time, is presented as an opportunity to shape the national narrative. During the days following the disappearance of the high leaders, the newspapers collected numerous articles and columns on the deceased politicians. All of this has a great impact on Spanish society and its collective memory. This is the last time they receive information on certain historical periods. The objective of this paper is to know what image was generated of the former presidents in the days following their death and what relationship these speeches have with the most recent historiography; El fallecimiento de los expresidentes del Gobierno nacionales sirve para repensar el pasado más reciente de cada país y, al mismo tiempo, se presenta como una oportunidad para moldear el relato nacional. Durante los días siguientes a la desaparición de los altos mandatarios, los medios de comunicación recogen numerosos artículos y columnas sobre los políticos en cuestión. Todo ello tiene un gran impacto en la sociedad española y en su memoria colectiva, pues se trata de la última vez que reciben información sobre determinados periodos históricos. El objetivo de este artículo es conocer qué imagen se generó de los expresidentes en los días siguientes a su fallecimiento y qué relación tienen esos discursos con la historiografía más reciente.
