El diseño racional desecuencias peptídicas y proteínas ha permitido el desarrollo de materiales híbridos coensamblados unidimensionales o bidimensionales. La dimensionalidad adoptada por el material depende directamente del diseño de la proteína. En primer lugar, se lleva a cabo un estudio de secuencias peptídicas para el desarrollo de fibras supramoleculares auto-ensambladas. En segundo lugar, se estudia la estabilidad y diseño racional de proteínas de repetición,modificándolas específicamente para el co-ensamblaje con las fibras supramoleculares.Finalmente, los materiales unidimensionales y bidimensionales son caracterizados y utilizadospara distintas aplicaciones en bioelectrónica y cultivo celular. El trabajo incluye una simbiosis de métodos computacionales y experimentales las cuales facilitan el diseño racional de péptidos y proteínas, y la posterior caracterización de los materiales supramoleculares
