dc.description.abstractThe incidence of candidiasis caused by drug-resistant Candida isolates has increased, leading to higher mortality rates and treatment problems that require new therapeutic alternatives. One promising strategy is to combine antifungal drugs, such as fluconazole, with other compounds that do not show antifungal activity on their own in order to achieve synergistic effects. The aim of this work was to combine fluconazole with citral, cannabidiol and lactoferrin to study the antimicrobial activity against Candida species. Activity was assessed by the checkerboard method and interaction by calculating the fractional inhibitory concentration index. All compounds were able to reduce the minimum inhibitory concentration of fluconazole although there were differences between species. Synergistic effects were detected with citral and lactoferrin (in 2 and 3 isolates, respectively) and additive with cannabidiol and lactoferrin (in 2 and 1 isolate, respectively).; Farmakoekiko erresistenteak diren Candidaren isolamenduak eragindako kandidiasiaren intzidentziak gora egin du, eta horrek heriotza-tasa handiagoak ekartzeaz gain tratamendu-arazoak inplikatzen ditu, alternatiba terapeutiko berrien beharra areagotuz. Etorkizun handiko estrategietako bat farmako antifungikoak, hala nola flukonazola, eta berez jarduera antifungikorik erakusten ez duten beste konposatu batzuk konbinatzean datza, efektu sinergikoak lortzeko asmoz. Lan honen helburua flukonazola zitralarekin, kannabidiolarekin eta laktoferrinarekin konbinatzea izan zen, Candida espezieen aurka aktibitate antimikrobianoa aztertzeko. Aktibitatea xake-taularen metodoaren bidez ebaluatu zen, eta interakzioa, kontzentrazio inhibitzaile zatikatuaren indizea kalkulatuz. Konposatu guztiek flukonazolaren kontzentrazio minimo inhibitzailea murriztea lortu zuten, nahiz eta desberdintasunak egon espezieen arabera. Efektu sinergikoak detektatu ziren zitralarekin eta laktoferrinarekin (Candidaren 2 eta 3 isolamendu desberdinetan, hurrenez hurren) eta gehigarria zitralarekin, kannabidiolarekin eta laktoferrinarekin (Candidaren isolamendu bakarrean, 2 desberdinetan eta bakarrean, hurrenez hurren).
