Gas Turbine Thermal Emulator Set-Up in a Real-Time Environment
Abstract
Energy field has become a key sector in the world. Thermal systems have become increasingly more important in the energy field and due to this this project aims to make a step forward regarding the thermal system technology. The objective of this work is selecting a thermal device, a micro gas turbine in this case, and try to emulate its thermal behaviour. For doing so, a thermal emulator has been modelled and set-up in a real-time environment. The model made includes the hole hydraulic analysis of the thermal emulator. This model has been achieved by two different paths. Using a mathematical theoretical model and a physical Matlab Simscape model. These models have been, afterwards, compared with the set-up results. Results show that flow is going to be used to controlling the transient state of the thermal power of the pump, while electric power is going to be used to reach the desired set-point. Overall, results show that it is possible to emulate the behaviour of the micro gas turbine and that the objective of this work has been fulfilled.
