Panes y pasteles en el ritual griego

Abstract

[ES] En la religión griega el sacrificio ocupa una posición central, en particular el sacrificio cruento de un animal inmolado en el altar. Sin embargo como parte de los rituales preliminares o posteriores a la muerte de la víctima, se realizaban también ofrendas de tipo vegetal, perfumes y pasteles, que en el caso de ceremonias en honor de algunas divinidades incluso llegaban a sustituir al sacrificio cruento. La epigrafía, las fuentes literarias y los lexicógrafos han aportado abundante información sobre los pasteles preparados con fines rituales, para ser quemados en altar o depositados en las mesas de ofrendas adyacentes. Sus nombres son muy variados, así como sus formas y los ingredientes de su masa, dependiendo de los lugares de culto y de las divinidades a las que se ofrecían.

[EN] In the Greek religion the sacrifice occupies a central position, particularly the bloody sacrifice of an animal immolated on the altar. However, as part of the preliminary rituals or following the death of the victim, there were also carried out vegetal, perfumes and cakes offerings. Epigraphy, literary sources and lexicographers have provided abundant information about the cakes prepared for ritual purposes, they were burned in the altar or deposited in the adjacent offering tables. Their names are varied, as well as their forms and the ingredients of their pastry, depending on the sanctuaries and on the divinities to which they were offered.
