Patrimonio preindustrial e industrial hidráulico: memoria y olvido en las orillas del Tormes

Abstract

[ES] Este artículo tiene como objeto de estudio el patrimonio preindustrial e industrial localizado en las orillas del Tormes a su paso por la ciudad de Salamanca. El análisis arqueológico se centra en la edilicia y en la tecnología hidráulica dedicada al aprovechamiento del agua como fuente de energía y al uso de ésta en la molienda del cereal. Dichas producciones se desarrollaron desde época medieval hasta hace apenas medio siglo en ambas riberas del Tormes, en los sitios denominados “aceña del Arrabal”, “aceña de San Jerónimo” y “fábrica de harinas El Sur” constituyendo un verdadero Paisaje Cultural que tiene al agua como protagonista. Al tiempo, este análisis del patrimonio material es completado con el inmaterial o intangible, que responde a la memoria de sus agentes sociales. Se pretende, en última instancia, reflexionar acerca de nuestro Patrimonio cultural; de su significado y valoración por parte de la sociedad salmantina actual y de administración local.

[EN] The aim of the article is the analysis of the pre-industrial and industrial heritage located on the Tormes river banks around the city of Salamanca. The archaeological analysis focuses on the buildings and the hydraulic technology which used the water as source of energy and the utilization of the latter to grind cereals. These productions have their origins in medieval times and were used until just half a century ago on both shores of the Tormes river in the sites called “aceña del Arrabal”, “aceña de San Jerónimo”, and “El Sur”, a flour factory. All of them constitute a ‘Cultural Space’ in which the water acts as the protagonist. Moreover, this analysis of the material heritage is completed with the study of the immaterial or intangible heritage or ‘social agencies’ memory. Finally, it is intended to think about our Cultural heritage; its sense and its valuation by the urban society and its local Administration.

[EUS] Artikulu honen helburua Tormes ibaia Salamanca hiritik pasatzean bere ibaiertzetan aurkitutako industriaurreko eta industrial ondarea aztertzea da. Ikerketa arkeologikoaren puntu nagusia ura energi iturritzat erabilita zereala ehotzeko baliatutako eraikin eta teknologia hidraulikoa dira. Produkzio hauek Erdi Arotik hasita orain dela mende erdira arte erabili izan dira Tormes-eko ibaiertz bietan, “aceña del Arrabal”, “la aceña de San Jerónimo” eta “El Sur” irin fabrika, izeneko lekuetan. Guzti hauek ura elementu nagusitzat duen Paisai Kulturala eratzen dute. Gainera, ondare material honen ikerketa ondare immaterial edo ukiezinarekin osatzen da, hau da, bere agente sozialen oroitzapenarekin. Azkenik, gure ondare kulturalaren inguruko hausnarketa proposatzen da, egungo Salamancako biztanleriak eta toki-administrazioak nola ulertzen eta baloratzen duen aztertuz.
