dc.description.abstract[EN] Since October 2018, through its news editing software, the Público newspaper’s team has implemented the use of an app with which each journalist must check 8 different markers for editorial transparency. A sort of Q for Quality in business, the “TJ Tool” software is an easily identifiable blue logo marking each news item which readers can click on to view a graphic calculation that awards points to different aspects of the journalistic effort and its traceability. In the present environment of continuous news pollution through fake news bots that serve political and financial interests, the “TJ Tool,” which is partly financed by the Google DNI foundation, turns the tables on a business model that abandoned all ethical rules a long time ago. Clearly, the Google brand is very interested in improving its reputation, and this is why it has invested 150 million euro on this and other projects of journalistic innovation. The Público newspaper also seeks to improve its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) ranking with this type of initiative, which increases its professional relevance. But, beyond these facts, what do students from the Journalism, Audiovisual Communication, Publicity and Public Relations Faculty at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) think about these innovations? The following quantitative and qualitative research gathers the brand experience of a group of approximately 80 first-year students who, on October 30th 2018, in the Bizkaia campus of the UPV/EHU, took part in a half- day presentation given by the two journalists who lead this project, and answered a survey afterward. This took part in the context of a mandatory, core degree module entitled “Business, Corporate and Institutional Communication.”es_ES
