Análisis y propuesta de mejora para la asociación ACOHI

Abstract

[ES]En Guatemala, un centro educativo de carácter no lucrativo atraviesa la situación más crítica e inestable desde que abrió sus puertas en el año 2003. Se trata del Instituto Casa de Esperanza, razón de ser de la Asociación ACOHI (Asociación Civil Ochoch Hik’ee’k), que ofrece educación secundaria a jóvenes indígenas del área rural del departamento de Petén, cubriendo así el vacío que el Gobierno deja en su sistema educativo público. Durante años el proyecto ha sido financiado por varias entidades, y al principio, el alumnado pagaba una cuota mínima, sin embargo, tras el cese de las ayudas económicas, la cuota estudiantil ha aumentado, provocando así el abandono de estudiantes ante la imposibilidad de pago. En la actualidad, el déficit financiero en el que está inmerso Casa de Esperanza amenaza con la posibilidad de seguir adelante y dejar sin acceso a la educación a la juventud del área rural. Y así, en medio de este escenario, se sitúa el presente Trabajo Fin de Grado, que nace con el objetivo de elaborar una propuesta de mejora que garantice la viabilidad, estabilidad y continuidad del instituto. Mediante un análisis externo e interno, se identificarán las debilidades, amenazas, fortalezas y oportunidades de la asociación, y después, se creará la Matriz DAFO. Más tarde, se ampliarán las fuentes de financiación y se pondrá en marcha un programa de becas para el alumnado más necesitado, generando así ingresos extras y una reducción de gastos en algunas partidas presupuestarias. El resultado más exitoso, ha sido la concesión de una subvención solicitada por la propia alumna, lo que ha permitido la instalación de placas solares en el Instituto Casa de Esperanza.

[EN]There is an educational centre in Guatemala, a non-profit centre which at the moment is going through the most critical and unstable situation since it opened its doors in 2003. Its name is “Casa de Esperanza Institute”; it belongs to the Association ACOHI (Association Civil Ochoch Hik ' ee'k) and offers secondary education to young indigenous people from the rural area of the Petén department, thus covering the gap left by the Government in its public education system. For years the project has been financed by several entities, and in the beginning, the students also paid a minimum fee. However, after the cessation of economic aid, the student fee has increased, causing the abandonment of students due to the impossibility of payment. At present, the financial deficit in which Casa de Esperanza is immersed threatens the possibility of going ahead, leaving the rural youth without access to education. And so, during this scenario, this Final Degree Project is located. It was born with the aim of developing a proposal for improvement that guarantees the viability, stability and continuity of the educational centre. Through an external and internal analysis, the weaknesses, threats, strengths and opportunities of the association will be identified, and then, the SWOT Matrix will be created. Later, funding sources will be expanded, and a scholarship program will be launched for the neediest students, generating extra income and a reduction of expenses in some budgetary items. The most successful result has been the granting of a grant requested by the author herself, which has allowed the installation of solar panels at the Casa de Esperanza Institute.
