Los personajes mudos en Aristófanes: un recurso cómico y teatral poco hablado

Abstract
This article explores the mute characters in the works of Aristophanes as a
comic and theatrical resource. With this aim, some scenes are analyzed in which the
dramatic ejfectiveness which the mute characters acquire on occasions can be clearly
seen: Aristophanes takes advantage of their time on stage to raise a laugh, to enrich
the spectacle or far characterization reasons, being able to produce ali this at the same
time. The author puts special emphasis on the importance of considering the staging
and words together, given that communication in the theatre springs ftom both these
areas.
