Abstract
However, it is possible to determine the degree of affectation that a particular sector has suffered by observing whether the patrimonial structure of the companies that form it, this is, their net worth, has been significantly altered. Thus, this paper analyses, taking into account the financial information presented by the main pharmaceutical companies listed on Spanish stock markets, whether the COVID-19 has not only altered the development of the economic activities of these companies, which is evident, but also their patrimonial structure.
The study is done from the perspective of the Statement of Changes in Equity, an accounting document of great utility when it comes to analysing the evolution over time of the items that form the net worth of a company, insofar as it shows the cause-and-effect relationships of each operation carried out.
