Klima-aldaketari buruzko hitzaurrea: inpaktuak eta egokitzapena

Abstract

Climate change is increasingly present in our lives and many define it as one of the most important challenges we face. Despite the scientific evidence collected for decades, there are still voices that question the causes of the changes we are observing. This chapter is intended to be a general introduction to climate change, from a perspective of its potential impacts as well as the measures we can take to adapt and respond to its negative effects. To do this, we first review the scientific evidence about the changing climate, as well as the historical context and the causes of these observations. Next, we explore the effects of climate change on natural and human systems, on a European scale but also review the expected impacts in the Basque Autonomous Community. Finally, we present an introduction to the concept of adaptation to climate change, we review the challenges it still has to face and also the opportunities it offers to build more resilient societies
