Euskal zinema jaialdiak: Amateur-profesionalen hazitegi

Abstract

[EU] Zinema jaialdiek mundu mailan izandako gorakadak filmen zirkulazio-ka- nal berriak ireki ditu. Horrez gainera, zinemaldiak ikus-entzunezko profe- sionalen erreferentziazko bilgune bilakatu dira. Bereziki, sektore independentearentzat eta film laburrentzat. As the years progressed, on the other hand, noting the function of film festivals for the spread of culture and the ability to strengthen the domestic tourism industry, there has been a specialization in them. In the past ten years, specific film festivals dealing with a variety of topics and formats have proliferated; such as human rights or the environment, short films, documentaries, animation, etc. Along with this, new research perspectives on film festivals have emerged.

This book chapter explains the historical development of film festivals, their main characteristics and the flourish of amateur-professional filmmakers, by focusing on the role of Basque film festivals and Lekeitio's Euskal Zine Bilera. The only Basque film festival devoted to films in Basque-language with over 40 editions.
